Another wonderful archery event completed today. Our head coach led a very interesting seminar about a number of topics which are often barely touched during the archery year.
- How many hours of shooting do you need to master archery?
- Which is the only confirmed way to improve your scores?
We often learn about elements like spine, or tuning a bow on the many online resources. And what too often happens is we gather incorrect or incomplete information that doesn’t lead us in the wanted direction.
It’s really good to have a chance to be in an dedicated day like this and in an environment where you can actually check and compare this knowledge.
A good group of keen students attended today’s seminar. Archers of the greatest breed… Archers wanting to become Better Archers.
The seminar touched various topics, from arrows compositions and their technical details, to stabilisation of your compound/recurve bows and to goals and practicing.
In the cozy scout’s hut environment, the archers got a chance to also experience practical tuning, and verify their own setup. A perfect scenario that not too frequently is found around clubs.
We recorded some slow motion videos too and verified arrow-to-bow-poundage match.
Mastery isn’t just about the amount of hours of practice. It takes dedicated, consistent, intensely focused training on specific elements. The more resources you can add on your shooting (like for example an external eye to pick up any required correction, or that saves you time into researching information) the quicker you’ll get to improve your game.
Like a good layered book, I’m ready to bet that in a year time, the same identical seminar would disclose newer information in the mind of anyone present.
The first of a good series of coaching ideas for 2023 turned out to be a great success.
See you on the line,
Angelo
