Corus Progress Awards Scheme

The club runs a special 252 award scheme for members of the club with shorter distance to engage people with bows at any poundage level.
The scheme is called Corus Progress Awards scheme (CPA for short).

The objective of the scheme is to provide a recognition of initial skills and a safe indicator whether the archer is ready to shoot at longer distances.

The so pursued 252 Badges (picture of stamps, might slightly differ in the originals, but you know… these are the ones)

The CPA has now evolved in the Outdoor and the Indoor scheme.

The Outdoor CPA

The Outdoor CPA works in this way:
– you score a round following ArcheryGB Rules of Shooting
– you claim a badge when you successfully score the amount required for your bow style

Rules for shooting

The rules for shooting a CPA round are:
– you choose a distance
– the round will be your first shooting of the day
– you are allowed 6 sighters
– the round is composed of 36 arrows
– the scoring method is imperial (5 zones – 9 for gold, 7 for red, 5 for blue, 3 for black, 1 for white)
– scores must be recorded on a club’s scoresheet
– another senior archer must score your arrows

(Note: under these rules, the first 36 arrows of any official Archery GB Imperial Round can be considered towards your CPA)

Claiming the badge

Only one badge may be claimed for each distance.

The scoresheet must be signed by the archer and by a senior member of the club (you can’t score your own arrows).
The scoresheet must be accepted by the records officer before you can claim a badge.

The distances shot will be 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 80 and 100 yards and there will be a distinctive different coloured badge available to mark your achievement at each distance.

The Indoor CPA

The Indoor CPA (otherwise-ly known as the Hayes-Chart) works in this way:
– you score a round following ArcheryGB Rules of Shooting
– you claim a badge when you successfully score the amount required for your bow style
– you can claim only the first easiest badge you haven’t already achieved (example,  if at your first attempt you score 300, you can only claim the orange badge)

(Other than for the first 3 badges, which are set at 10 yards, you will effectively be shooting a Bray I round)

Rules for shooting

The rules for shooting an Indoor CPA round are:
– you pick the first badge for your bow style that you haven’t already achieved
– the round, will determine the distance you will be shooting at, on a 40cm target face
– compound bows shoot on 3 spot faces
– the round will be your first shooting of the day
– you are allowed 2 ends of 3 arrows as sighters
– the round is composed of 30 arrows
– the scoring method is metric (10 to 1)
– scores must be recorded on a club’s scoresheet
– another senior archer must score your arrows

Claiming the badge

Every badge can only be achieved once.

The scoresheet must be signed by the archer and by a senior member of the club (you can’t score your own arrows).
The scoresheet must be accepted by the records officer before you can claim a badge.

The distances shot will be 10 yards or 20 yards and there will be a distinctive different coloured badge available to mark your achievement at each attempt.
