Single/Double Worcester 2022 Results
It was a morning like the others.
With a cold breeze, the mist over the marshlands near the river Dee was leaving the spot to timid rays of sun.
We woke up, and a strange feeling in our stomach was calling for something special today.
We got ready, with greater awareness than the other times, and our thoughts began to take shape. Form. The Form. That Feeling. That unique unmistakable feeling.
So the day began.
Corus Double Worcester Tournament
We are please to announce our first tournament since the start of the lockdowns. It’s been a long time for all of us which makes all the more special.
The 27th March will be a Double Worcester held under GB Record Status rules. Please see the entry below for details.
Could be… Worcester
Tournament preparation. It all starts by knowing you’ll be attending to one.
Thankfully, at Corus our coaches have scheduled an indoor handicap-adjusted league to which all members can attend.
Through this plan, we get to experience the tension of a tournament and the different possible indoor rounds.
This morning we turned up to meet the eye-catching black and white faces lined up and ready to welcome our excellent shooting.
Yes, that’s exactly right, excellent shooting – because each time you show up in front of the target and commit to the training, no matter what the score will be, the result will always be a good one.
Commit to the training,
shoot with intent,
listen to your coach.
The Worcester is a 5-arrows-end round, so a bit different than classic indoor rounds characterized by 3 arrows end.
You get to shoot the first 30 arrows on a target face and then switch target for the following 30 to the other lower/upper face.
I personally get a very distant taste of Field Archery there, but that’s about how far I would dare to go in comparing the two.
We all have ups and downs, but to me is always rewarding when you see members’ skills getting better and better.
Why rewarding? Because we are all in this (archery struggle) together.
And we saw some really excellent shooting this morning – see below .

My personal bright side in all of this? First Worcester, personal best. Couldn’t be any better.

So nice to see a good representation of archers on the line again after so long under restrictions and to see the club growing again with novices.
Paralympic Archery Medals
A huge congratulations go out to TeamGB’s Paralympic Archery medal winners.
Phoebe Paterson Pine for winning Gold in the Women’s Individual Open Compound. ArcheryGB Article
Victoria Rumary for Bronze in the Women’s Individual W1 event. ArcheryGB Article.
This adds to the fantastic success the UK has had in Para-Archery in the past. GB Archers have brought home 68 medals from 1960 to 2020, leading the medal table for Archery in the Paralympics.
I could fill this post with a list of every single medal winner but it would go on for pages. Each medalist has overcome tremendous disability to achieve their accolade and I admire every one of them.
Susan on the Welsh Team
Our team member, Susan Thompson has shown the club another place where women can achieve more than men. We are proud and delighted to announce she’s officially made it into the Senior Welsh Team and will represent our country at the next Commonwealth Archery Championship Europe (http://welsharcheryassociation.com/).
Susan’s shooting career has been an ever-growing one. She has started not long ago, and after achieving the Bowman Classification last year, she has been constantly improving her scores knocking out those golden targets with persistence.
We’ve asked her some questions, for you to enjoy.
Have-a-go was a great success

We now have a full Beginners Course as 7 participants signed up on the back of the course and 4 parents have also signed up.

The next beginner’s course will be held at our outdoor venue at the Care and Repair Sports field in Shotton. It will be held on the 18th and 19th September.
Next Have-A-Go at capacity
Update: This have-a-go session is now full! Thank you to everyone who has shown an interest.
We will be having further have-a-go sessions in the future, so keep an eye on the website and we’ll publish them as soon as a date is confirmed.
For those unsure about wanting to join our club and take up archery but have always wanted to try shooting a bow and arrow, then this is another opportunity.
On the 22nd August during our morning shooting session we have set aside an area for non-members to have a go of shooting a recurve bow. You’ll have a dozen arrows under the instruction of either a coach or an experienced archer.
The cost is £10. During the session you’ll be able to talk to the club members and find out about this unique sport.
