It’s always good to be on the line, to meet new people and exchange experiences, tips and a simple smile. A bump of the fist.

People drove 90 miles to join us today. Not just a single person. Because archery means really something that goes beyond a simple arrow. It’s a discovery, it’s passion, it’s commitment. It’s pure, pure pleasure.

And so, under the careful eye of Ian Ashworth, John Edwards and Phil Abbott (our judges for the day) the first round passed by.

Our club’s signature and paramount coach Pete Pendrey handed out the awards. And that was when. That was exactly the moment the Dragons made their majestic entry.

Now, I’m sure none of the present archers remembers it like this, but feisty fiery breath-taking Dragons entered the scene reined by the nimble whip of Sue Wolfendale, records officer of Welsh Archery Association.

And so the Double Portsmouth began. 120 arrows, all aimed at that little, distant tiny 10. All to be shot right there in the 10. And what’s event worse, shot one after another.

Can you imagine?

Too quick. It went all out too quickly.

In the rush of the events, I think my eyes even caught a glimpse of Master Patrick taming a Purple Dragon.
